Triunfo/Triumph began in 1990 and has aimed to inspire students and close the achievement gap by the consistent and sustained, weekly, personal one-on-one tutoring in all academic areas. Triunfo/Triumph is open to all students without restrictions, but only provides free transportation to the CSU campus to the higest needs students from the highest needs schools. Triunfo/Triumph is a partnership of El Centro and the College of Natural Sciences Education & Outreach Center.
Because the program pairs CSU students as tutors with local, primarily underserved K-12 students from Poudre School District, strong bonds form that contribute to the success of the program.
The tutoring takes place every Thursday from 4-5:30 pm September through May in the impressive experiential learning studio at CNS EOC where students have access to computers, printers, lab materials, and scientific, mathematical, and educational expertise.
High Quality Tutors
Many CSU student leaders, organizations, and advocacy groups including the Society for the Advancement of Chicano/Latin, Native American Students, and CSU Vet Students are partnering with the program. Many of the CSU tutors are first generation students, Key Academic Community students, Honors students, or science and mathematics education majors.
Triunfo/Triumph receives generous financial support from the Bohemian Foundation, the CSU College of Natural Sciences, and El Centro.
